Pre-Treatment Consultation

Dr. Imran will assess your affected tooth and surrounding gums. He will also take dental X-rays to check bone levels and determine the extent of damage. It is important to discuss any medications, vitamins, or supplements you’re taking. Once all information is gathered, he will discuss treatment and sedation options with you in detail.

Extractions Process

Your tooth extraction will either be simple or surgical. Removing visible teeth is a simple extraction. However, if your tooth is severely damaged and decayed or it is under the surface chances are you will receive surgical extraction.

Simple Extraction

To numb the area around your tooth, you will get local anesthesia.So, during the procedure you’ll feel only pressure not pain. An instrument called an elevator is used to loosen the tooth and forcep is used to remove it.

Surgical Extraction

During the surgery, you will likely receive both local anaesthesia and intravenous anaesthesia. You will receive anaesthesia, depending on any medical conditions. You will remain unconscious during the procedure if you received general anaesthesia.

Avoid Colored Foods

The following steps can help minimize discomfort and reduce the risk of infection..

  • Take prescribed painkillers.
  • Bite firmly but gently on the gauze pad placed to reduce bleeding and allow a clot to form in the tooth socket. Change gauze pads before they become bloody. After the extraction, leave the pad in place for three to four hours.
  • To keep down swelling apply an ice bag on the affected area.
  • After the extraction rest for at least 24 hours.
  • Limit physical activity for the next day or two.
  • Do not rinse or spit forcefully because it can dislodging the clot.
  • After 24 hours, rinse your mouth with a salt and warm water.
  • In the first 24 hours do not use straw to drink water.
  • Do not smoke, which can inhibit healing.
  • Eat soft foods, such as soup, pudding, and yogurt the day after the extraction and slowly add solid foods to your diet.
  • Lying flat may prolong the bleeding. Therefore prop your head on a pillow.
  • While avoiding the extraction site continue to brush and floss your teeth.

Avoid Acidic Foods

As part of your aftercare routine avoid acidic foods like lemons, pickles, limes, and other foods or soft drinks.
